The profound changes set in motion in the fall of 2008 were symbolized by the opposition of structured Saturn and revolutionary Uranus. This pattern returns in February and September this year before completing in July 2010. It's clear that the world is no longer as it was and that a process of ongoing adjustments will continue for some time. Fortunately, the shock to the worldwide economic system has spurred a rapid response that will continue to be adjusted as needed. Saturn, the planet of necessity, is in Virgo, a practical sign more concerned with results that ideology. Mistakes on individual and collective levels can be fixed as long as we accept our imperfections and focus on fixing them rather than laying blame or wallowing in guilt. A grounded, objective approach to problem solving is well served by Saturn in hardworking and modest Virgo, where it will remain until October 30. This is a combination of incremental change where small steps taken with care can take us up the highest mountain.

Jupiter is Saturn's counterpart and plays the role of the planet of expansion. On January 5 its outgoing force shifts from cautious Capricorn to inventive Aquarius where it will remain until January 2010. Jupiter in this progressive, community-oriented sign reflects a shift in thinking away from the extremes of personal ambition and competition toward a more cooperative way of seeing the world. This optimistic planet in open-minded Aquarius will give birth to bright new ideas for collective and individual growth. Jupiter's conjunctions with spiritual Neptune and healing Chiron in late May, July and December are rich with inspiration and metaphysical meaning. Humanity may be ready for a great leap forward as we glimpse a future in which our individual differences of faith and politics become less important than our common concerns. On a personal level, the capacity for innovation will grow as old prejudices and fears dissolve in the light of an awakening consciousness of our unlimited potential.
