The Sun is in practical Taurus until May 20, a positive signal for taking care of business. This earth sign deals in reality and is excellent for getting down to the bottom line without panic. Taurus has a sense of value that pays off when measuring the worth of objects or individuals. The downsides of this sign are stubbornness and an occasional lack of imagination. If it can't be touched and felt now, then maybe an idea or a plan for tomorrow will be rejected. Finding a way to combine common sense with an open mind will make the best business use out of this sign.

Mercury is a planet traditionally associated with commerce. It's the principle of trade, travel and communication. On May 7 it will stop dead in its tracks (as viewed from Earth) and move backwards until May 30. This is (for some) the dreaded "Mercury retrograde" period. This three-week, thrice-annual event often corresponds to delays in sending and receiving messages, plus more misunderstandings, false starts and breakdowns of machinery. It's not appropriate to stop moving forward professionally during this cycle, but it is wise to double back and double check details and communications to reduce the likelihood of undesirable surprises. Mercury retrograde is useful for doing maintenance work or reconnecting with people from the past. Projects that have stagnated and plans lost in the shuffle are often brought back to life during these periods.

The Scorpio Full Moon may trigger financial fears on May 9, but the message is not to run and hide, it is to cut unnecessary expenditures to shift investments of time, money and energy to places where they will be more useful.
