Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer, a hot celebrity couple, may be seem like a strange match, but since each has the homey Moon in the same sign, there's a natural bond between them.

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer are huge stars, each an enormous success in their own field. Combining the two in this high-profile tabloid romance is a bonanza for gossip columnists, entertainment TV and us, their ever-curious fans. The oft-paired pair at first seems like an odd couple. Jen is adorable but is more than a decade older than John's previous squeeze, Barbiesque Jessica Simpson. Age, of course, isn't everything, yet birth dates are the ground zero of astrological analysis.

Jennifer was born February 11, 1969 at 10:22 pm in Los Angeles, John was born October 16, 1977 (time unknown), and there are some very good planetary reasons why they are the celeb couple du jour. Jen is a freedom-loving Aquarius with her Moon in Sagittarius, the sign of wide open spaces. Dark Pluto's tense 90-degree square to her Moon, planet of emotions and maternity, reflects the difficulty she has with her own mother and why she's not pumping out babies for Brad. Even Venus, the planet of love, conspires against domesticity by its placement in live-in-the-moment Aries. Jen seems like the kind of woman who wants the security of long-term partnership, but her Sun, Moon and Venus suggest that she's a girl who wants to have fun and freedom.

John is a Libra with his Sun forming a perfect 120-degree trine to Jen's Aquarius Sun. This is a highly favorable connection, aligning the solar qualities of will, intention, consciousness and identity in a comfortable way. John's Sun is right on Jen's Libra Ascendant, the key rising point in her chart that represents her image. Jen soaks up the rays of John's Sun, gaining energy and enthusiasm from his presence. What's even more important for their relationship, though, is his Moon in Sagittarius, the same sign as Jen's. Since the Moon is about mood, habit and family, having theirs in the same sign shows a deeper level of connection, the kind that makes long-term relationships possible. They understand each other instinctively, which must be very comfortable. Yet, Sagittarius isn't a very domestic sign, so they have a common need to give each other plenty of space.

John's Venus in late Virgo conjuncts Jen's karmic Lunar South Node. This reinforces the depth of their connection, but not necessarily in the best of all possible ways. Since South Nodes represent the past, this is another reminder of how comfortable they feel with one another. Still, the South Node can also be a trap where we spin our wheels revisiting old patterns without finding satisfaction. Fortunately, the negative potential of falling into old habits is countered by the hunger for adventure of their Moons in Sagittarius. Lastly, Jen and John have another great planetary alignment: Mars trine Mars. This harmonious hookup of the action planet with hers in watery Scorpio and his in watery Cancer shows a shared tenderness and ability to work well together. Jen and John, then, have a high level of astrological compatibility. Whether that will overcome their inherent independence to sustain a lasting bond, though, is still a real issue.
