Are the Stars Aligned for the Democrats to Win the Election?

The Moon, the People and the Midterm Elections

Will Democrats reclaim the House or the Senate this November? Before offering a prediction, we must first understand the two "political" planets, Jupiter and Saturn. Back in the day, any astrological book worth its weight doled out political parties like so: Jupiter represented the Republicans, and Saturn was in charge of the Democrats.

Times have changed, however. For one thing, while Jupiter still has a lot to do with those who are prosperous, and Saturn still represents boundaries and hard work, the people we were and the people we've become just aren't the same, and neither are the parties each planet represents.

See, back in that day -- the day of powdered wigs and Boston Tea Parties -- there was no welfare, no battles over a woman's choice, no assisted suicide, no gay marriage, and there certainly weren't any battles over taxes. Today, however, the planet that once represented the Democrats -- Saturn -- doesn't seem to fit that bill anymore. Saturn's job is to inspire conservative values, a position that definitely does not include supporting any of the above. Jupiter, on the other hand -- once the Republican's patron planet -- does … big time.

For the sake of argument, let's say the Democrats are now represented by Jupiter and the Republicans are now Saturn's tribe. It's not much of a stretch, especially since Republicans are now proudly known as conservatives and fundamentalists (Saturn), and Democrats are staunch liberals (Jupiter), basically representing those who both prefer and need the undeniably Jupiterian qualities of generosity to all.

Now let's add the Moon, without whose influence no political prediction could possibly be made. Let's take a peek at birth chart of the United States (July 4, 1776 at 5:10 pm in Philadelphia, PA), the one astrologers refer to as the Sibley chart, with an eye toward deciding which team might end up with the most players on deck come November 8.

In astrology, the Moon represents the people. On Election Day, November 7, 2006, Jupiter in Scorpio (Democrats) and Saturn in Leo (Republicans) will be in a square -- ninety degrees from one another, which is the astrological equivalent of an argument. Jupiter will also be square to the U.S.'s Moon in Aquarius. Saturn, on the other hand, will be directly opposite our Moon. While Saturn can stop, hinder and put up delays -- and while many might say we won't be making any changes with Saturn influencing us in this fashion -- this astrologer begs to differ. Squares push action, and think about how much easier it is to make a change when you feel pushed than when you've had it with feeling overused, under-appreciated and worked to death -- all possible effects of Saturn's transits.

To find the true end result, it might be best to go to the Moon itself -- the transiting Moon on the day of the elections, that is: At 0 AM on November 7, the Moon will be at 7 degrees of Gemini, right smack dab on the U.S.'s Uranus -- the planet of sudden, surprising change. That's the final clue needed to solve this election, and the answer is this: The people (the US Moon) are in the mood for a change -- and on that day, we'll make it.
