Halloween is right around the corner, and what better way to get in the mood than to rent a scary movie? If you're looking for some interesting viewing material, check out these flicks. Be sure to lay in a healthy supply of candy apples, caramel popcorn, and hot cider beforehand ... fear has a frightening effect on the appetite!
Aries (March 21 to April 19)
Aries aren't known for their long attention spans; they want movies that are short, sweet, and move like lightning. Rusty Cundieff's 'Tales from The Hood' is tailor-made to this sign's taste. The movie is actually four short horror stories told by mysterious funeral parlor director to three drug dealers who come to pick up a delivery at his place of business. Gripping enough to rivet even the Ram's attention!
Taurus (April 20 to May 20)
Halloween is one of Taurus's favorite holidays, for one simple reason: free candy! If you know a Bull who is looking for a sweet viewing treat this year, Bernard Rose's 'Candyman' should do quite nicely. It's centered around an urban legend that's circulating through Chicago's Cabrini-Green housing complex. The story goes that if a person utters the Candyman's name five times in front of a mirror, they'll be in for a horrific visit from a crazed slasher. Best watched with a jumbo box of Raisinettes.
Gemini (May 21 to June 20)
Most Geminis think that two heads are better than one -- that's because they were born under the sign of the Twins. That's probably why this sign will get a huge kick out of 'The Thing with Two Heads,' directed by Lee Frost. Mad scientist Ray Milland cheats death by having his head transplanted onto the body of escaped convict Rosy Grier. Only problem is that the scientist is a raving racist. Must be seen to be believed.
Cancer (June 21 to July 22)
There's no question that all Cancers are encased in tough shells. It takes a lot to make this sign squirm. One thing Cancer can't tolerate, though, is cruelty to children. If you'd like to make your favorite Crab jump with terror this Halloween, suggest watching 'The Believers' together. It's the story of a widowed psychologist investigating a voodoo cult that sacrifices babies. Director John Schlesinger does a masterful job with some creepy material. More brooding than gory, this movie still does a good job of providing serious scares.
Leo (July 23 to Aug. 22)
Playful Leos see the funny side of everything, including horror films. That's why they'll probably get a big kick out of director Paul Annett's 'The Beast Must Die.' It's a campy story about a house party hosted by an expert hunter. What should be a ritzy weekend in the country turns into a bloodbath when one of the guests turns out to be a werewolf. Blaxploitation fans will love the decidedly seventies hairdos and costumes, while horror fans will howl over the ludicrous story line. Still, it's all in good fun for the most playful holiday of the year.

Virgo (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)
Even though Virgo is the sign of innocence, this sign doesn't shy away from horror films as a general rule. Still, these choosy movie-goers won't put their money down for just any old slasher flick; there has to be a substantial plot involved. William Girdler's 'Abby' is a movie that's both hair-raising and thought-provoking. It's the story of a minister's wife who becomes possessed by a Nigerian sex demon. Virgo will secretly delight watching this good girl go bad. Hey, that's what Halloween's all about!
Horror Movies for: Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces >>
