Ride the Emotional Roller Coaster

2006 Summer Love Forecast

Like the weather in San Francisco, the temperature in this summer's Love Thermometer will be scorching one moment and cool the next. Joyous Jupiter and serious Saturn cross paths on June 22, and you could experience their alternating effects for days. It may feel as if the sweet pleasures you seek are far away, but not to worry -- love planet Venus skips into flirty Gemini on June 23, followed by the Sun harmonizing with cheerful Jupiter on June 30. Mercury retrogrades on July 4, turning your thoughts inward, and then resumes its forward motion on July 28. The summer sun may fuel your urge to be bold, but with Mercury in backward motion, be careful not to overplay your hand!

Even with Mercury -- the planet that rules communication -- telling you to say less, the first week of July is the time to take an emotional risk. In fact, with romantic Venus squaring unconventional Uranus on July 6, you’ll probably be tempted to experiment and be more daring in your love life. Venus hooks up with dreamy Neptune on July 9, encouraging daydreams about true love. Passionate Pluto enters the scene around July 14, increasing passion and, perhaps, giving you a double dose of drama in your relationships. On July 18, Venus enters self-protective Cancer, reminding you that emotional security can be every bit as important as physical pleasure.

The Sun enters playful Leo on July 22, making you want to "get out there" in search of love and romance. Sexy Mars enters critical Virgo on the same day, encouraging you to think with your head instead of just your heart (or loins), making sure you don't waste energy on unrealistic pursuits. The need for immediate gratification is strong and you probably won't be disappointed as long as you know when to stop. When attractive Venus harmonizes with fortunate Jupiter on July 26 and electric Uranus on July 30, it's time to have fun, and lots of it.

Even the hottest romance might cool down as the Sun approaches serious Saturn in the first week of August. You'll burn through the resistance by August 12, when both mental Mercury and sensual Venus enter relentless Leo. Impulsive actions can get you into trouble if you respond too quickly to a partner's unexpected behavior. It's better to be cautious around August 18 -- saying too much can have you backtracking by August 20. This is a bad time to make promises you can't keep. Everything seems temporarily back on track by August 22, but you could face disappointment on August 26. Again, the pendulum swings and obstacles to happiness are easily overcome. But watch out -- the last days of August could bring on a power struggle that can't be won.

September arrives with a new lease on love. You've overcome past discouragements and can now focus your attention on the present and the future. Love can bring surprises if you stay flexible, especially around September 5 and September 15.

As your romantic fortunes swing back and forth in the summer breezes, one thing remains constant. It's less important which way the wind blows, and more important how you respond to the things you can't change. Maintaining a positive attitude is the best way to make sure that love will find its way to your door.
