Our astrologer makes his prediction

The Stars at Super Bowl Kickoff
Serious Saturn, the planet of hard, cold reality, will be rising in the east when Super Bowl XLI kicks off on Sunday, February 4 at 6:25 pm in Miami. The conservative nature of Saturn is likely to favor the team that plays patiently and avoids mistakes, rather than one going for the big strike. Athletic Mars does make a favorable connection to inventive Uranus, which will certainly produce some spectacular plays and surprising moves, but the crown is likely to go to the team that plays it safe and steady.

Peyton Manning's Super Bowl Stars
Traditionally, Saturn is a planet of fall or failure, and it’s now in Leo, the sign of the star. Since Peyton Manning is clearly the biggest one on both teams, this might not turn out to be his super Sunday. The brilliant quarterback pulled his team back from the brink of disaster against New England to cement his status as the best player in the game at his critical position. Born March 24, 1976, Peyton is an Aries, the spontaneous, quick thinking sign of the fireman able to respond rapidly in critical situations. With his Mars, Aries’ ruling planet, in a tense 90-degree square aspect to his Sun, Peyton thrives on pressure, but even his prestidigitation with the pigskin might not be enough for the Colts this time. The astrological influences on the day of the big game aren’t especially unfortunate for Peyton, but the game time tale of a star’s fall and the strong possibility of an upset could put the underdog Bears on top.

Rex Grossman's Super Bowl Stars
Chicago’s quarterback Rex Grossman is a Virgo who also has lucky Jupiter in this sign. At kickoff time, and throughout the game, the fast-moving transiting Moon in Virgo will be closely conjunct Rex’s Jupiter. If he can maintain the precision for which Virgo is known, the rewards are his for the taking. This isn’t to say that Grossman is better than Manning or will outplay him, but Rex’s team only needs him to be solid to win. Of course, even the most brilliant quarterback play might not be enough in a game where almost 100 men will participate. A second string safety can make a critical interception or a left guard can fall on a fumble that changes the course of the game. There’s no way to analyze the chart of every player on both sides, but a quick look at the chart of each coach can be helpful.

Lovie Smith's Super Bowl Stars
Lovie Smith of the Chicago Bears is a Taurus with the Moon in Capricorn. These are both earth signs, as is the game day Moon sign of Virgo, a point in Lovie’s favor.

Tony Dungy's Super Bowl Stars
Tony Dungy, the Colts’ coach, is a Libra with the Moon in Gemini, both air signs that are not as strongly supported astrologically on Super Sunday as Smith’s chart.

Super Bowl Star's Prediction
The Bears, then, are this astrologer’s favorite, although if I was perfect at the complicated art of astrological sports predicting, my position on the list of the world’s richest people would be quite a bit higher. But for football fans everywhere, my wish is for an exciting and entertaining game, free of halftime humiliation and major injuries. May the commercials begin!
