Ashlee Simpson certainly benefitted from the fame of her old sister, but the young singer is an interesting enough individual to make her own mark in show business. She's a charming Libra who was born on October 3, 1984 in Waco, Texas. Librans love to make people happy. In fact, sometimes they're so concerned with the well-being of others that they overlook their own needs. Ashlee's need to please may be one of her greatest assets as a performer. She'll make up for whatever she lacks in talent or polish as a young artist with a determination that's sure to improve her work. Ashlee showed her inexperience on 'Saturday Night Live' when she appeared to have been lip synching. She was embarrassed by this lapse of professionalism, but it doesn't seem to have had any damaging long-term effect. That's a good thing, because Ashlee is probably tougher on herself than any critic or fan will ever be. That's because she has Venus -- Libra's ruling planet that represents self-worth -- conjunct demanding Saturn. It's hard enough to grow up with an older sister as glamorous-looking as Jessica, but individuals with strong Venus-Saturn contacts like this often lack self-confidence. This conjunction in the emotionally intense sign of Scorpio gives Ashlee depth that's not apparent to a public that sees her as a pretty, happy-go-lucky young woman.
The powerful inner pressure of Venus-Saturn, though, is hidden by mystical Neptune in Ashlee's chart. Neptune, the planet of illusion and fantasy, was exactly conjunct active Mars in athletic Sagittarius when Ashlee was born. This combination is excellent for glossing over problems and sliding through situations without taking them on directly. Librans don't like confrontation, and with Mars -- the fighter -- softened by Neptune's presence, Ashlee will probably do anything to avoid them. Her nonchalant attitude doesn't indicate a lack of seriousness about her life; it's her defense mechanism against the strong pressures that she feels much of the time. The Moon, a critical factor in personality analysis, changed from Capricorn to Aquarius on the day she was born. Her time of birth has not been made public, so we don't know which sign her Moon is in. The odds slightly favor eccentric Aquarius, which does seem to be a better choice than hyper-responsible Capricorn. If that is the case, Ashlee may feel torn between the need to prove her self-worth through the hard work and discipline of her Venus-Saturn conjunction and a strong desire for freedom reflected by her Aquarius Moon. In fact, if the burden to perform becomes too great, Ashlee might decide that fame is just not worth the price and could even opt out of show business.
