'Ally McBeal' put Calista Flockhart on millions of television screens every week. Her relationship with Harrison Ford keeps her in the gossip columns, but we don't often see her in movies or on TV. Privacy appears to be more important to this Scorpio than fame.
Calista Flockhart became famous in the quirky TV series 'Ally McBeal,' where her inner thoughts and imaginings often appeared on-screen. Her fame coming through such a fantasy-driven character is perfectly reflected in her astrological chart. Born November 11, 1964 at 9:06 am in Freeport, Illinois, the actress took her first breath with Neptune, the planet of illusion and imagination, conjunct her Sun. The central star of our solar system represents identity and consciousness, and its conjunction to cloudy Neptune makes her a person who is very difficult to read. Neptune seems to have lightened up some of the traditional heaviness of her Scorpio Sun. Calista, in fact, is almost as well known for her slight figure as for her acting. Yet her relatively frail appearance hasn't kept her from snagging superstar Harrison Ford as a long-time companion. It's likely, then, that the lady may be slight, but that she's no lightweight.
Additional evidence of Calista's power is demonstrated by her acting skill. While her movie work has been limited, her stage work earns her consistently positive reviews. Perhaps the profound sensitivity of her Sun-Neptune conjunction in Scorpio makes her better suited for plays where she has direct contact with an audience, rather than in films where directors and producers have control over what the public sees. It might be that Calista loves acting, but doesn't love fame. Scorpios can be secretive, and diffusive Neptune's close connection with the Sun sometimes makes it easy to feel lost in the spotlight. And even though her Venus -- the planet of love and relationships -- is in sociable Libra, it's unlikely that she's interested in being better known than she already is. Venus' harmonious 120-degree trine with her Moon suggests that she knows how to satisfy herself and doesn't have the neediness common to so many performers. Her Moon, which is associated with emotions and habits, is in the cool sign of Aquarius where the desire for freedom is strong.
There is also evidence that Calista may not have much tolerance for the routine and the repeated questions celebrities often hear from the press. Her Moon in Aquarius gives her an independent streak and the sense of being different from most people. Her Mercury, the planet of the mind, is in philosophical and outspoken Sagittarius, and in a tense 90-degree square with feisty Mars in Virgo. This reflects mental impatience and a sharp intellect. Calista's clearly not seeking stardom and may, in fact, be quite shy. We'll see her on-screen again this fall in 'Brothers & Sisters' -- hopefully because the drama is worthy, and not because she needs the money or the attention.
