David Beckham is a down-to-earth Taurus who lives in the rarified atmosphere of enormous fame. But the soccer star, cover boy and husband of an ex-Spice Girl has a chart that shows enough flexibility to adapt to his many different roles.
David Beckham is a Taurus, the sensual earth sign ruled by Venus, the goddess of beauty. Beckham is a world-class soccer player famous for his bending shot, a Spice Girl-wife Victoria (Posh), and model good looks. David is an international cover boy whose face and body have become iconic. He's a brand, which is a good thing to be for a materialistic Taurus who wants physical comfort and the dollars to buy them. Fame and money come from David's athletic skills. Mars -- the planet of competition, muscles and speed -- was in sensitive Pisces when he was born, indicating that he relies more on style than strength. His famous curved kick that inspired the film 'Bend It Like Beckham' reflects Mars in Pisces' preference for finesse over force. However, David's Mars forms a close 120-degree angle trine with serious Saturn. This harmonious and creative aspect between the planets of action and control show the finely-honed skills that he demonstrates on the soccer field (or football pitch, as they say in his homeland). David's Mars also forms a more challenging angle, a 90-degree square, with Pisces' ruling planet Neptune. A Mars-Neptune square often indicates a person's desire to use illusion and fantasy rather than attacking issues directly. Beckham is not known as his sport's fiercest competitor, which is to be expected from someone with such a gentle Mars.
Sports thrust David into the spotlight, but the Venus-ruled traits of beauty and romance launched him into the stratosphere of fame. He was born with his Venus in media-friendly Gemini. This adaptive sign helps him shift gears easily among his roles as sportsman, model, husband and father. Adaptable Gemini allows him to feel at home in the many worlds he occupies. Venus' trine to unconventional Uranus shows that he's no typical pretty boy, but a man with a unique look that sets him apart from the crowd. This Venus-Uranus aspect also shows David's need for freedom within a relationship. This doesn't mean that he's unfaithful to Victoria, but that some time apart will help him maintain a sense of individuality he needs to feel worthwhile. The tense square between his Venus and Mars, though, does add a layer of complication in partnerships. This combination shows that he's the seductive type, a man who is very sensitive to what others think of him and will try extra hard to make a good impression. Fortunately for him, though, he's not likely to meet much resistance from the millions of male and female fans appreciative of his athletic skills and smitten by his good looks.
