Celebrity Cancers - Zodiac Central Cancer

Celebrity Astrology: Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford has played some of the greatest heroes in modern movie history, from Han Solo to Indiana Jones. The rugged-looking actor, though, is more a man of feeling than fierceness with four planets in the caring sign of Cancer.

The standard-issue movie hero is larger-than-life. With bravado and courage, he is an excellent example of the bold and daring sign of Leo. Yet Harrison Ford, who has played the lead in some of the most popular movies of all time, belies that astrological stereotype. Born July 13, 1942 in Chicago, Ford has both the Sun and Moon in the protective and caring sign of Cancer. The primary motivation of this astrological tribe is to defend home territory rather than to reach out and conquer unfamiliar lands. Ford's self-effacing and low-key personality corresponds with the more humble qualities of his sign. Cancers are basically motivated by safety and security, regular folks who enjoy the comforting rhythm of daily life. Yet circumstances can drive them from their nests to take on aggressors threatening hearth and home. Harrison Ford's Moon of emotions -- along with the Sun of identity -- in cautious Cancer makes him appear to be like the regular guy he is. He has generally avoided controversy and the bright spotlight that follows stars of his magnitude. Cancers like it that way.

Still, Harrison has been a hero in real life, too. He's a pilot who has at least once rescued stranded hikers in his home state of Wyoming. Although his laconic manner reflects the introverted nature of his Sun and Moon sign, he does have an important planet in heroic Leo.

That's Mars, the macho warrior of action, which enables him to behave with just enough swagger to make his on screen characters believable. But Mars is how we do things, not who we are. Thus Ford can show some convincing courage and grandiosity when necessary while remaining free of the ego-inflating aspects of Leo. Additionally, his Mars is joined with Chiron, the asteroid known as the "wounded healer," which is sure to express aggression through tender awareness of its destructive qualities. Perhaps, like real heroes, Harrison Ford's greatness is not about the extraordinary acts his characters perform onscreen, but about the comfort and care he offers those he loves in the regular routine of everyday life.
