Kate Moss was born with the Sun in conservative Capricorn, but playing it safe has never been part of her game plan. The rebellious planet Uranus in a stressful 90-degree angle to her Sun has set her apart, marking her as an unusual individual who prefers not to follow the rules.
Kate Moss is a Capricorn, a sign known for ambition and self-discipline. While she clearly has what it takes to climb to the top of the fashion world, her volatile personal life has taken some unexpected turns that don't fit the profile of her highly responsible Sun sign. The major twist in her astrological story comes from Uranus, the planet of rebellion. It formed a challenging 90-degree square to her Capricorn Sun when she was born on January 16, 1974 in England. This powerful relationship between unconventional Uranus and the Sun in conventional Capricorn often represents sudden rises and falls of popularity and success. In Kate's case, her career was rooted in the Uranian quality of being different from her peers. She came into the public eye when top models like Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer were relatively curvy. Kate's arrival on the scene sparked the return of the skinny, waifish look popularized back in the 60s by Twiggy. Kate, in a way, re-revolutionized modeling. As is often the case with wild and crazy Uranus, the changes were extreme and have led to an anorexic look in fashion that is stirring strong reaction, including discussion about legislation in some countries.
Venus, the planet of beauty and style, never wanders too far from the Sun. Kate's is in inventive Aquarius, the sign ruled by Uranus, which definitely moves her taste from the more classical look preferred by Capricorn to something more original. She's a trendsetter, reflecting the inventive qualities of Venus in this forward-thinking sign. This planet also has a great deal to do with love and relationships. Those with Venus in Aquarius are usually attracted to unique individuals who prefer to operate outside the cultural mainstream. Kate's relationships with Johnny Depp and singer Pete Doherty clearly show her preference for rebels. And with the macho planet Mars in earthy Taurus forming a square to her Venus, her men are not shy about acting out their differences with society. In Doherty's case, there's a self-destructive element involving drugs that has also shaken Kate's career. However, in spite of published photos of her illegal indulgence that cost her some big contracts, she quickly recovered professionally and is still as popular as ever. Personally, though, there may be cause for worry. Her Moon, symbol of emotions, is in deep, complex Scorpio where the forces of descent into a mysterious underworld can sometimes pull down the most successful individuals. Kate likes to play with danger, but let's hope that she finds enough Capricorn common sense to temper her risky behavior with a healthy will to survive.
