Celebrity Cancers - Zodiac Central Cancer

Celebrity Cancer Matthew Fox Profile - Zodiac Central Cancer

Matthew Fox of TV's 'Lost' is a husband and father who fulfills the role of his domestic Cancer Sun sign quite well. But his diverse experiences and interests reveal the restlessness of a Gemini Moon that won't allow him to be typecast.

Actor Matthew Fox, a Cancer born July 14, 1966 in Crowheart, Wyoming, got his start playing Charlie Salinger on the TV show 'Party of Five,' and is now bigger than ever as Jack Shephard on the ABC drama 'Lost.' Cancer is a water sign best known for its attachment to home and traditional values, so it's not surprising that Matthew's family moved to Hawaii to be with him while filming the show. Still, he's an unconventional Cancer with an unusual personal story. He was born with Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and expansion, conjunct his Cancer Sun. This planetary push for more in life has taken him a long way from the ranch where he grew up. Instead of following his parents' path raising cattle and horses, Matthew went to the East Coast for his education, the West Coast for television, and Hawaii for 'Lost.' Neptune, the planet of dreams and imagination, forms a harmonious trine -- a 120-degree angle -- to his Jupiter and Sun, perfect for a man who makes his living pretending to be someone else. But he also has serious Saturn trine his Sun and Jupiter, revealing a practical side appropriate to his down-to-earth upbringing.

We could say that there are two Matthew Foxes. His Moon -- which represents moods, needs and habits -- is in the Twin sign of Gemini. He went to an Ivy League college, Columbia University, where he majored in economics and played football. A girlfriend led him to modeling, which led him to commercials and an interest in acting. His Gemini taste for variety was well-nourished long before he reached Hollywood and will likely push him into a wide range of roles during his career. In fact, he's already directed his first film … a short in 2002. Matthew once said that if he didn't make it in show business, he'd work on Wall Street. The man has options.

Venus is the planet of love and pleasure, and Matthew's is in Gemini. This is another reflection of the importance of change in his life. Still, it's very uncommon to go from a cattle ranch to a New England Prep School, from football to finance, and from 'Got Milk?' commercials to a hit television show. The reason could be that his Venus is in a tense 90-degree square with revolutionary planets Uranus and Pluto -- the astrological signature for the cultural craziness of the sixties, when Matthew was born. In spite of a traditional upbringing and the conservative worlds of football and finance, he's a man who's had to go against the grain to find his own path to happiness. He has the Cancer Sun need for normalcy, but packaged in his own unique way. Matthew may be a husband, dad and one of TV's leading hunks, but he's not about to lose his individuality.
