2009 brings the sense of an awakening, global sense of brotherhood, the likes of which this world has never seen before. This cycle began in 2008 and will proceed for nine years through 2017. The changes brought about during this cycle will be gradual and realistic, but powerful. There will be a growing, underlying sense of sameness, an awareness that we are not that different from each other. There will be changes and actions that are obvious and visible to all, and then there will be transformations that happen below the surface.
Those changes in energy may be invisible to most of us, recognizable only when they cause some kind of manifestation that affects us on the physical plane. This developing consciousness, that we are all alike where it matters, that our differences are only superficial, that the things that make us different are things we have created within ourselves … these realizations will be the cornerstone of the future. And yet, they will develop below the surface, hidden from view for all but the most attentive among us. It would be unreasonable to expect diverse peoples like Christians and Muslims the world over to be hugging each other and living happily ever after in just a few years, but a change in that direction is nonetheless beginning.

Expect more political and economic ups and downs for 2009 – previously, it was said that 2008 would be a year of political and economic mayhem, and the numbers for next year promise that 2009 will be no less of a roller-coaster ride. However, the changes and events expected for 2009 are of a different nature.
The numbers 11, 7, and 9 dominate the 2009 calendar year. The number 11 symbolizes sensitivity, diplomacy, the resilient strength of feminine power, and the most supreme demonstration of wisdom: tolerance. Because the 11 plays such an important role, the contrast and violent clashes between tolerance and intolerance will become more disturbing than ever. The silver lining of this horrible black cloud is that every vicious expression of intolerance feeds the need for tolerance in those who witness it. Hate is self-destructive, and love self-perpetuates … do the math!
The number 7, meanwhile, indicates spiritual growth -- not to be confused with organized religion. The 7 is the true seeker in search of understanding. It is the age-old quest for enlightenment. In its purest form, the 7 does not take anything at face value, does not accept dogmas or claims of one true God. Nor does 7 acknowledge anyone who claims to speak on God's behalf. The 7 simply will not stop searching, not until knowing has taken the place of ignorance.
However, the 7 appears as a vacuum in 2009. This isn't as simplistic as "there will not be spiritual growth." Rather, its lack will be apparent. The world at large will need or crave the spiritual growth of the 7, and the absence of that growth will be especially noticeable. If the 7 is to be heard, its core message must somehow be added to the world at large.
Finally, the number 9 tells us that this is the end of an era. By the end of 2009, business will no longer be business as usual, whether in the political, economic or military arenas. The way we view things will become dramatically different, but again, only the tip of this iceberg of transformation will be visible. 9 also brings compassion and empathy into the mix, and is therefore a decidedly positive force.
Be optimistic about this next year. Mankind is on the right path, despite all of the poor choices we have made and the self-destructive behaviors we continue to enact. There is no doubt that the future is a bright one, because when all is said and done, the heart is so much stronger than the mind.
For March and April, expect changes and upheaval if not outright chaos; for many of us, the outcome of this change in status quo will be positive. May brings stability, while June and July release the balancing force of the 8. The number of symmetry is quite powerful (if you turn it sideways, it's the sign of infinity!); it will push the tectonic forces of economy and politics until they experience a stress-releasing quake in September and October. November and December bring a measure of hope and optimism, as things calm down. The year will end with the sense that our global society is keeping it together. Despite bumps in the road, the foundation of what humankind has built is resilient.
